About the Restaurant
The history of Palmetto Seafood began with Ralph and Josie Floyd in 1961. They started the seafood market in 1961 at the same location as it is today on Gervais Street in Columbia. The Floyd’s operated the business until 1997, when Lucius and Addie Moultrie decided to carry on the tradition. Being in the same location and using the same name helped the Moultrie’s continue serving the loyal customers that they inherited. As Lucius says, “we have quite a few people in their 60’s and up who come back and tell us their experiences at Palmetto Seafood. They may live in other areas of the state, country or world, but they always come back when they are in town. It truly warms my hear their stories.”
