About the Chef

Originally from Philadelphia, PA, Jason DuPree attended Johnson & Wales University in Charleston immediately following high school graduation. He started off by completing the two year Culinary Program, in which he obtained an Associate’s degree.

Not long after Jason decided that he would return to school and receive a Bachelor’s degree in food service management, to be better rounded in the hospitality industry. After four years of college Jason worked for a few of the local restaurant groups in Charleston perfecting his managerial skills.

In 2011 Jason joined the 39 Rue de Jean team working under Chef Aaron Lemieux. Jason has worked his way from Line cook, to Sous Chef, and Chef De Cuisine. Jason was named Executive Chef of 39 Rue de Jean in November of 2013.

Too Good for the "Before" Shot

Fresh on the Menu chefs know the importance of using fresh, Certified SC ingredients. It means their dishes look and taste so good, you’ll forget the ‘before’ picture to share with friends and just dig right in. That’s okay, we’re used to seeing empty plates.
